A cordless soldering iron that allows small electrical repairs to be undertaken safely out in the field, away from a plug-in power source, has been released in New Zealand by NARVA.
The new NARVA soldering iron makes use of a compact, rechargeable, fast heating lithium-ion battery to supply the power. It can heat itself ready-to-solder in just 10 seconds.
It’s the second portable soldering iron introduced by NARVA, joining the butane gas powered soldering iron (P/No. 56390BL) that was released last year.
More than just a soldering iron, the new battery-powered NARVA kit (P/No. 56394) comes with additional interchangeable tips to suit a variety of jobs, including chisel, cone and hot knife for cutting (such as rope) and an integrated L.E.D light to illuminate the working area to ensure adequate visibility and accurate soldering.
Doubling as a visual safety check to show that the iron is hot, the L.E.D only illuminates once the button is pressed and heating commences.
For extra safety, the soldering iron features overcharging, over-discharging plus short circuit and electrostatic discharge protections.
“A portable soldering iron is great to have on hand at home, in the workshop or away when you aren’t close to a normal plug-in power source and the new lithium ion battery-powered model is extremely easy to use,” says Tim Paterson, National Sales Manager for Griffiths Equipment, which distributes NARVA products in New Zealand.
Providing a run time of 40 minutes, the lithium ion battery is fully charged in 3.5 hours using the USB to Micro-USB cable included in the kit. The 10 second heating time ensures quick, convenient use of the iron, with a maximum temperature of 600°C.
Also included in the kit is a safety cap and idle stand to ensure user safety during heat up, use and cool down. Replacement tips are also available to purchase as a kit (P/No. 56395-E).
The NARVA rechargeable lithium-ion soldering iron kit comes contained in a convenient and durable case ideal for home use and professionals, and is available from leading automotive retailers throughout New Zealand.
