Iconic Hot Wheels Car Fresheners

A hot new air freshener developed in partnership with the makers of ‘Hot Wheels’ miniature racing cars is now available in New Zealand. 

The Hot Wheels in-vehicle air fresheners are inspired by the iconic racers that have given pleasure to millions of youngsters and adults around the world.

First introduced in 1968, Hot Wheels has gone on to develop over 20,000 models, selling over six billion units. In those 50-plus years, the brand has achieved some amazing milestones including breaking three Guinness World Records, including one in Australia last year for the longest Hot Wheels track of 751.13 metres. 

The Hot Wheels brand has become such an icon it has led to the development of a range of automotive-inspired air fresheners that can be enjoyed in the car/truck.

“Hot Wheels is such a well-known brand, it resonates with a lot of people and the air freshener range has been created to reflect the sense of fun and joy – as represented in colourful packaging,” says Tim Paterson, National Sales Manager for Griffiths Equipment, which distributes automotive accessories and products, such as the Hot Wheels air fresheners, throughout New Zealand.

The Hot Wheels air fresheners are available in either a 3D hanging mount or a dispenser that clips onto an air vent.

Two fragrances are currently available: Beach Bomb, which pays homage to the highly collectible Volkswagen Kombi Beach Bomb surf mobile model from 1969 that is so rare it now fetches six figure sums in auction; and Treasure Hunt, a reference to the special collectible models that were dropped into production runs by Mattel, the maker of Hot Wheels.

The Beach Bomb fragrance is a combination of raspberry, peach and cedar, while Treasure Hunt delivers a combination of pineapple, caramel and raspberry. Four more fragrances – Rodger Dodger, Silver Bullet, Redline and Burnout – are being introduced later in the year.

Mr Paterson says they provide a long-lasting fragrance around the cabin and, as the Hot Wheels logo states ‘It’s not the same without the flame’.

The new range of Hot Wheels Air Fresheners is now available from Repco and other leading automotive and hardware stores throughout New Zealand.
